Anonymous asked: hows obama gunna go fix iraqs goverment before fixing his own?
Delegation.
The plans for Iraq and Afghanistan’s new gov’ts have been planned for nearly a decade. It is the job of the top commanding officers of those nations, overseen by the SACEUR/NATO and MND-F/CENTCOM commanders which are then overseen by the Sec. of Defense. While it is Obama’s concern (as would be with ANY president who was elected into a wartime position), he has delegated based on previously working models. Obama recently signed a SOPA with the Afghan gov’t that was set to be signed when W. Bush signed the original SOFA for that area. Iraq’s SOFA was designed to have the US forces out by Dec. 2012«<That was signed by Bush in 2008 right after Obama was elected (side note, this is the same time that Bush signed the bailout deal for AIG and the ENRON thing was happening). Obama is one of the most successful presidents. In his first two years he accomplished most of his major goals, and we HAVE seen steady job growth, month by month sine the April after he took office, even in the shadow of Bush’s bailouts. I used to live in a suburb of Detroit. My parents worked for factories that made parts for all sorts of little automobile things like brake lines and toolboxes for a wide variety of makes and models. GM (which is based in Detroit) was set to default, or bankrupt which would have immediately caused huge job losses at GM alone. But the trickle down would have ended not only my family’s factory (which employed 10k workers, with full benefits), but the other surrounding factories that forged the wheels, the axels, and any other little bit needed.
Obamacare didn’t go far enough, but it is incredible that people cannot be turned down by insurance because of pre-existing conditions. He did that. And that’s just a few examples from his first two years in office.
His past year (and some months) has been a bit different because of the major change in gov’t since the midterm elections. The tea party put in a huge number of new republican congressman that ran on slogans to shrink the deficit. What the tea party didn’t know is that there are key social issues that come with being republicans - women’s rights (contraception/abortion), religious rights (god run gov’t/ban on mosques), medical rights (obama care/free health clinics), freedom of speech (sopa, and all those other internet ban bills you’ve seen in recent months) and just flat out freedoms in general. These differences on social issues between the parties have held up every bill that has been presented, and the republicans keep proposing preposterous bills that go as far as to cut spending for children’s reduced and free lunches in public schools in favor of keeping the current tax rate on the extremely wealthy and keep the bloated defense budget (which trust me, it’s really, really bloated). The left has leaned to the right time after time accepting every revision that has kept any bill written by the dems from having its full effect, while the right just keeps running rightward with American flag in hand, screaming drill baby drill while stuffing their pockets and kicking the less fortunate in their teeth.
I just set up an appointment
To get tattooed by Josh Stephens from Hold it Down in Richmond. I’m so excited. I’ve been a fan of his work for a very long time.
